As I said, I now think all my issues are with over-the-air reception and not with Vista or Media Center or the HVR-1600 card - or the remote. I am able to see the Vista Desktop with no problems by setting my ATI Catalyst Control Resolution to 1280x720 @60Hz. I can view Media Center in windowed mode without any trouble.

Issue with Media Center
Since I was disappointed with the flickering video, I decided to try the public beta of Windows Vista before I went back to XP.Wow! I never thought I would say that about a Microsoft product. The beta I downloaded happens to be Vista Ultimate which has the media center crap and the tablet crap. It looks good.

Sometimes, the screen will flicker some wierd, abstract lines, as if it is indeed trying to display video. Troubleshooting I've already tried: I have tried every feature of the windows media center, from listening to the radio, watching DVD's, playback of recorded tv shows, and even playing online games.
